The High Cost of Health Insurance - Whose Fault is It?
To be honest I sometimes get tired of hearing people blame the insurance companies for the high cost of premiums. If the insurance companies were making so much profit, why are they getting out of the business? What happened to MDNY? Horizon? Vytra? Guardian? What about the merger of HIP-GHI-Perfect Health into Emblem and now possibly Health Net.
To make clear the high cost of premiums, think about
~ The true cost of your prescription. Ask the pharmacist to tell you the cost of your Rx if you were to pay full price.
~ The cost of new technologies.
~ The high cost of malpractice insurance.
~ What doctors are charging compared to services rendered. Take a good look at your EOB statements (Explanation of Benefits).
~ How often some people use their benefits while not knowing the true cost of services.
